Why a faded cage is worth fixing now

A faded cage is more than a looks problem. Once the paint chalks and the coating wears thin, the aluminum frame is open to the weather. In our climate, that means rust creeps into the screws, the corners, and the spots where water sits. Left alone, those small rust spots spread and stain the screens and the deck below them.

Wait too long and the fix gets bigger. A frame you could have cleaned and refinished this year may need welding or section replacement later. And a tired cage drags down the whole back of your home, the part you actually sit in. Refinishing now protects the metal, keeps the job small, and lifts your whole yard. It costs less to keep a good frame looking good than to rescue one that’s gone too far.

What kinds of cages and enclosures do you refinish?

We refinish the screen enclosures common across Central Florida, whether they cover a pool, a lanai, or a bird cage over an open patio. If it’s an aluminum frame that’s faded, chalky, or rusting, we can bring it back.

Need the outside of the house handled at the same time? We do that too, and doing both on one visit keeps your colors matched and your trips down to one. See our exterior painting and pressure washing and softwash services.

How do you prep a pool cage before refinishing?

Prep is where a cage job is won or lost. We start with a softwash, which is a low-pressure wash with the right cleaners. It lifts the mildew, chalk, and grime off the aluminum without blasting the screens or driving water where it shouldn’t go. High pressure alone can dent screens and leave the surface too slick to hold paint, so we clean it the way the metal needs.

Once it’s clean and dry, we hand-check every joint. Rust spots get sanded and treated so they don’t bleed back through. We wipe the frame down so the coating grips bare, clean metal. Then, and only then, do we paint. It’s the same caulk-and-tape care we put into a full house repaint. Skip the prep and the new finish peels in a season. Do it right and it holds.

Finish and warranty

We put two coats on the frame, not one, so the color is even and the film is thick enough to stand up to the sun. We use a coating built for exterior aluminum, and we cut clean lines where the frame meets the screen so you get crisp edges instead of overspray on the mesh.

Our exterior paintwork is backed by our 7-year peel-and-chip warranty, and about a year after the job we call to make sure everything is holding up.

Questions

Pool cage & bird cage refinishing questions, answered

Straight answers. If yours is not here, give us a call.

Talk to a real person

We answer the phone and give you a straight answer.

(352) 626-8007
Can you fix a rusted pool cage frame?

Yes. We sand and treat rust spots before we coat so they don't bleed back through the new finish. If the rust is only on the surface and the aluminum is still sound, refinishing brings it back. If a section has corroded through, we'll tell you straight and point you toward welding or replacement first.

How long does a refinished pool cage last?

Done with proper softwash prep and two coats, a refinished cage holds its color for years against the Florida sun. Our exterior work carries a 7-year peel-and-chip warranty, and we do a one-year follow-up to make sure it's still holding the way it should.

Do you softwash the cage before painting?

Always. We softwash with low pressure and the right cleaners to lift mildew, chalk, and grime without denting screens or driving water into the frame. Clean, dry metal is the only way a new finish grips and lasts.

How much does pool cage refinishing cost in Central Florida?

It depends on the size of the enclosure, the amount of rust, and the finish you want. That's why we give a same-day written price after we look at it, not a guess over the phone. The estimate is free and there's no pressure.

Can you match my cage color to my house?

Yes. We match bronze, white, and other common frame tones to your home and trim. If we're painting the exterior at the same time, we keep everything coordinated in one visit.

Will refinishing hurt or replace my screens?

No. We refinish the aluminum frame and cut clean lines where it meets the mesh, so you don't get overspray on the screens. Refinishing is about the frame, not the screen material itself.

Do I have to pay before the job is done?

No. You don't pay until you're happy with the finished cage. Our foreman walks the job with you first and handles any touch-ups before you sign off.

Do you refinish bird cages and lanai enclosures too?

Yes. We refinish bird cages, lanai enclosures, and screen enclosures the same way we do pool cages, with a softwash, rust treatment, and two coats for an even finish.
