What is a polyaspartic floor coating?
Polyaspartic is a floor coating that goes down over prepped concrete and cures into a hard, clear top layer. In plain terms, it’s a tough finish that seals your slab and takes abuse. It resists hot tires, dropped tools, oil, and the UV rays that come through an open garage door. Unlike some coatings, a quality polyaspartic stays clear instead of turning yellow in the Florida sun.
It also cures fast. That matters because it means less time with your garage torn up and your cars in the driveway. We can usually add a decorative flake broadcast in the color you like, then seal it with a clear coat, so you get a floor that looks finished, not just painted. Most of our customers want the flake look because it hides dust and small marks between cleanings.
Polyaspartic vs epoxy in Florida heat
Both start with a coated concrete floor, but they behave differently over time. A basic epoxy is a good coating when it’s prepped and installed right, and we install epoxy flooring too. The short version: polyaspartic cures faster, resists UV yellowing better, and takes hot-tire pickup better than a standard epoxy top coat. That’s why we often recommend a ground base with a polyaspartic top coat for garages that see sun and heat.
The honest part is this: prep matters more than the product name. A great coating over a poorly ground slab still fails. A properly ground and patched floor with the right coating lasts. We’ll tell you which fits your slab and your budget after we look at it, not before.
