Garage floor coating

You want a garage floor that looks clean, wipes down easy, and holds up to a hot truck tire and a dropped wrench. Not a coating that peels up in a sheet two summers later. That’s what we build. We grind and prep your concrete first, coat it with a tough epoxy, and back the interior floor with a lifetime warranty. You see the finish before we start, you get a written price, and you don’t pay a dime until you’re happy with it. If you’re in Ocala, Belleview, Summerfield or anywhere in Lake, Marion or Sumter County, we can take a look and give you a straight number.

Here’s the part nobody tells you at the low bid. Epoxy is only as good as the concrete under it. If a crew rolls coating straight onto a smooth, sealed, or dusty slab without grinding it first, the coating has nothing to grab. It looks great on day one. Then a tire peels a strip up, or a patch lifts near the door where water gets in, and now you’re paying twice.

You also risk the little stuff that adds up: paint slopped on your wall trim, an edge that wanders, or flakes that clump because the coat went on too thick. A garage floor should make the space feel finished, not give you one more thing to babysit. When you pick on price alone, prep is the first thing that gets skipped, because you can’t see it once the floor is down.

How do you install an epoxy floor that lasts?

We don’t guess at the slab, we prep it. Every floor gets the same honest steps, whether it’s a two-car garage in Del Webb or a workshop in Ocala.

  • Grind the concrete. We use a diamond grinder to open up the surface so the epoxy bonds to the slab, not just sits on top. This is the step cheap bids skip.
  • Fix the flaws. We fill cracks, patch pits and chips, and clean the dust before any coating goes down.
  • Coat and broadcast. We apply the epoxy base, broadcast the color flakes if you chose them, then seal it. Two coats where the job calls for it, never one where you paid for two.
  • Walk it together. Before you pay, a foreman walks the finished floor with you so you can check the edges and the finish yourself.

Already have an old coating on your floor?

If your slab has an old coating on it already, that’s not a problem, we grind and strip it first. See our concrete grinding and coating removal page for how that works. And if you want a floor that cures faster and stands up to UV in an exterior area, ask us about polyaspartic instead. We’ll recommend the right coating for how you actually use the space, even if that’s the less expensive one.

Why we use 100% solids epoxy

Most store-bought epoxy kits are largely water. Once that water evaporates, the coating left on your floor can be a fraction of what was rolled on. A 100% solids epoxy has nothing to evaporate, so what we put down is what stays down. That means a thicker, harder floor in fewer coats, and it holds color flakes much better.

Metallic epoxy floors

Metallic epoxy blends shimmering pigments into clear epoxy, and we work it across the floor by hand so the finish has depth, movement, and a marbled look. No two metallic floors come out the same. It’s a great fit for living spaces, home gyms, man caves, and show garages. We seal every metallic floor with a UV-stable clear coat to protect it from scratches and sun.

Epoxy or polyaspartic

Which floor is right?

Both make a tough, good-looking floor. The difference is cure time, UV, and where you’re putting it. Epoxy is a great value for an interior garage or workshop. Polyaspartic cures faster, handles sunlight better, and works for spaces that see the outdoors, like a patio edge or a carport. We’ll tell you plainly which one fits your floor and your budget.

How long does an epoxy garage floor last?

A properly prepped and coated epoxy floor holds up for many years of daily use. It shrugs off hot tires, dropped tools, oil, and the mop. Because we ground the slab first, the coating is locked to the concrete instead of floating on top, so it doesn’t lift and peel the way a rushed floor does.

We stand behind it in writing. Interior epoxy carries a lifetime warranty. Exterior epoxy carries a 5-year warranty on a maintained plan (see our warranty page for full terms). And every floor gets our one-year follow-up call, because we want to know your floor still looks right a year later. That’s the part a national franchise or a one-truck bidder rarely offers.

Who's doing the work on your floor?

McWilliams Painting is owned by Weston McWilliams, a working painter who’s been in the trade since 2012. He’s married with kids and runs the business right here out of Fruitland Park. He keeps the same crews year after year, so the people prepping and coating your floor have done this hundreds of times.

Weston is straight with folks. He’ll tell you if epoxy is the right call or if polyaspartic suits your space better, and he’s fine telling you to get a couple other estimates. He’s a member of BNI and BEST 352, and most of his work still comes from neighbors who tell neighbors. When you call, you get honest answers, not a hard sell.

(352) 626-8007
How much does an epoxy garage floor cost in Ocala FL?

Price depends on the size of your garage, the shape your concrete is in, and whether you want color flakes or a solid finish. A slab that needs crack repair or old-coating removal costs more than a clean, ready slab. We give you a written, all-in price after we measure, so there are no surprises. Call (352) 626-8007 for a free estimate.

How long does an epoxy garage floor last?

A properly ground and coated epoxy floor holds up for many years of daily driving, tools and cleaning. The key is prep, because a coating bonded to a ground slab lasts far longer than one rolled onto smooth concrete. We back interior epoxy with a lifetime warranty.

Do you prep the concrete before you coat it?

Yes, every time. We diamond grind the slab to open the surface so the epoxy bonds, then fill cracks and pits and clean the dust before any coating goes down. Skipping this step is the number one reason cheap floors peel. We never skip it.

Can you remove an old peeling coating first?

Yes. If your floor already has an old epoxy or coating on it, we grind and strip it down to sound concrete before we recoat. See our concrete grinding and coating removal page for how that process works, then we build the new floor on a clean surface.

What's the difference between epoxy and polyaspartic?

Epoxy is a strong, good-value coating for interior garages and workshops. Polyaspartic cures faster and handles sunlight better, so it suits spaces that see the outdoors. We'll recommend the right one for your floor and how you use it, even if it's the less expensive choice.

Do I have to pay before the floor is done?

No. You don't pay until you're satisfied with the finished floor. Before you pay, a foreman walks the floor with you so you can check the edges and the finish yourself. If something isn't right, we make it right first.

Will the epoxy floor be slippery when wet?

We can add a slip-resistant texture to the coating, which many homeowners choose for a garage that gets wet. Tell us how you use the space and we'll set the finish so it feels safe underfoot. Just ask when we come measure.

How long before I can park on my new epoxy floor?

Epoxy needs time to cure before you drive on it, usually a few days depending on temperature and humidity. We'll give you a clear timeline for your floor when we finish. If you need a faster return to use, ask us about polyaspartic, which cures quicker.

Ready for a garage floor that lasts?

We grind and prep first, coat it right, and back interior epoxy with a lifetime warranty. You see the finish, get a written price, and pay nothing until you’re satisfied.
